Rescued after buried alive by parents, newborn dies in Gujarat hospital, parents arrested for attempted murder

Himatnagar (Gujarat), Aug 11 (IANS) After a nine-day fight for life in a Gujarat hospital, a newborn, who was buried alive by her parents and rescued by a farmer, breathed her last at the Himatnagar government hospital on Thursday morning.
Government hospital Superintendent Dr. Ashish Katarkar told the local media that Wednesday night she developed multiple problems, though doctors tried their best, but she did not survive and died around 5 a.m.
Doctor said a Gombhoi police officer was informed about the death and after the police procedure is completed, post-mortem will be conducted and later as per the police instructions final rituals will be conducted since her parents are in judicial custody.
On August 4, farmer Hitendrasinh had found the infant buried in his farm. With the help of some neighbours, the baby girl was rescued and rushed to the Himatnagar government hospital with the help of emergency medical services.
In less than 24 hours, police found the baby girl's parents, who were identified as Manjula and Sailesh Bajania. They admitted before the police that they buried the baby as it was premature birth, and since they were financially weak and feared medical expenses, they decided to bury her.
Police have arrested the parents for attempt to murder. Now after the infant's death murder section will be invoked against the couple.
The accused were identified as Mohd Sahil, 28, Mohd Waseem, 18, Mohd Yusuf, 29, and Ashish Chawla, 43. Deputy Commissioner of Police, South, Benita Mary Jaiker said that the matter came to notice when a PCR call was received on July 18, reporting that a courier package having 80 knives was found dropped in C.R. Park area.
Officials said under a pilot project net metering roof top solar power plant in four mandis are being installed and such solar power plants will be installed in 23 mandis. The DGP said the arrested persons had also tried to kill three associates -- Dagar, Fateh Nagar, and Kaunsal Chaudhary -- of Gangster Sukha Duneke when the police had brought them on production warrant in connection with kabbadi player Sandeep Nangal Ambia murder case.
The officials alleged that the said man instead of showing the licences as demanded, started shouting at the cops and also abused them. As the policemen tried to further persuade the owner, he and his nine staffers started pushing them out of the bar.
