Rescued after buried alive by parents, newborn dies in Gujarat hospital, parents arrested for attempted murder

Himatnagar (Gujarat), Aug 11 (IANS) After a nine-day fight for life in a Gujarat hospital, a newborn, who was buried alive by her parents and rescued by a farmer, breathed her last at the Himatnagar government hospital on Thursday morning.
Government hospital Superintendent Dr. Ashish Katarkar told the local media that Wednesday night she developed multiple problems, though doctors tried their best, but she did not survive and died around 5 a.m.
Doctor said a Gombhoi police officer was informed about the death and after the police procedure is completed, post-mortem will be conducted and later as per the police instructions final rituals will be conducted since her parents are in judicial custody.
On August 4, farmer Hitendrasinh had found the infant buried in his farm. With the help of some neighbours, the baby girl was rescued and rushed to the Himatnagar government hospital with the help of emergency medical services.
In less than 24 hours, police found the baby girl's parents, who were identified as Manjula and Sailesh Bajania. They admitted before the police that they buried the baby as it was premature birth, and since they were financially weak and feared medical expenses, they decided to bury her.
Police have arrested the parents for attempt to murder. Now after the infant's death murder section will be invoked against the couple.
The CBI had registered a case on April 13, 2016 on the request of Chandigarh Administration and had taken over the investigation of the FIR earlier registered at Police Station, Sector-26, Chandigarh.
Bishnoi, who was brought from New Delhi after procuring the transit remand from Patiala House court, was produced in a Mansa court in Punjab at around 4 a.m. amid high-level security after his medical check-up.
The police have also recovered an illegal weapon and live cartridge from the criminal. The accused has been identified as Aakash, a native of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
The Punjab Police informed Delhi Police that the location of one of the phone numbers was traced to Delhi, and that the accused were changing their locations frequently. Acting on the tip-off, Delhi Police followed the leads obtained through technical surveillance and digital footprints.
SSP Mohali, Vivek Sheel Soni said, the two accused identified as Gagandeep Singh alias Gaagi and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi are residents of Dabbwali in Sirsa district of Haryana.
