As per a report by India Today, 70-year-old man named Malaisamy from Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu has filed a petition stating that he wants to get married to the 24-year-old shuttler. He has also said that he will abduct Sindhu and marry her if the proper arrangement for marriage is not made.

The reported incident took place during the weekly meetings for the general public at the district collector’s office. Malaisamy reached the meeting, carrying with him a photo of badminton gold medalist PV Sindhu and of himself and a letter which contained his interest in marrying the athlete.

The septuagenarian has also claimed that he isn’t 70-years-old, in fact, he says that he is a 16-year-old boy who was born on April 4, 2004. He said that he was very impressed by PV Sindhu’s growth in sports and that is why he wants to make her his wife.

PV Sindhu is a spectacular national badminton player. She recently won a gold medal in World Championships 2019 after defeating Japanese badminton player Nozomi Okuhara in straight sets in the final.

Other than Olympics and World Championships, Sindhu has multiple medals in Uber Cup, Asian Games, Asian Championships, Commonwealth Games and South Asian Games. Currently, she is the top women badminton Indian player.
