Punjab Teacher Shot Dead For Opposing Molesters At A Wedding, 2 Arrested

    Two youth who allegedly shot dead a school teacher who resisted their lewd remarks and attempt to molest her at a wedding function in Punjab's Batala town were arrested on Sunday, police said.
     
    Police officials said that the victim was shot dead from close range after she resisted an attempt to molest her at the wedding function on Saturday night as a resort near Batala town, 220 km from here. The victim was a computer education teacher in a nearby government school.
     
    Those arrested were identified as Parminder Singh and Navkiran Singh, a police official said, adding both have been booked for murder.
     
    The victim's husband said that his wife was returning after getting ice-cream at the function when both youths, who seemed to be intoxicated, passed lewd remarks and tried to molest her. When she objected, one youth took out a pistol and shot her in the head.
     
    She died on the spot.
