Punjab Gangster Dilpreet Dahan, Alias Baba Now In Mohali Police Custody

IANS, 17 Jul, 2018 02:11 PM
With gangster Dilpreet Dahan, alias Baba, yet to stand on his feet, the court had to shift downstairs to take stock of his condition. Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Imanbir Dhaliwal came down to the ambulance in which Baba was brought to the court. He was then sent to 14-day judicial custody.

However, the Mohali police simultaneously applied for a transit remand in the case of attempt to murder singer-director Parmish Verma, which was granted. Dahan was remanded in seven-day police custody in the Parmish case for interrogation. Dahan had allegedly fired upon Parmish on April 15 and had owned up to the crime on the social media.

It has been eight days since Dahan was shot at in his thigh and captured by the police, but he is still unable to sit straight. Visibly in pain, Dahan remained in a half-sitting position with his head being supported by the shoulder of a policeman.

Dahan remained in the court complex inside the ambulance for over five hours before being shifted to the Mohali police ambulance.

Just like last time when he was brought to the court, a large number of people gathered to take pictures and record videos. However, they later dispersed as they were unable to see the gangster.

Dahan was nabbed after a dramatic chase on July 9 by a joint team of the Chandigarh and Punjab police near the Sector 43 bus stand. He was captured after being shot at in his thigh in retaliatory firing. He was booked by the Sector 36 police for attempt to murder and under the Arms Act and was in two-day police custody after being discharged from the PGI.

He was then sent in two-day police custody for interrogation in the 2017 sarpanch murder case wherein he had allegedly shot the sarpanch of a Hoshiarpur village outside a gurdwara in Sector 38. The remand ended on Tuesday and the police did not seek extension.
