Punjab Cabinet to pay obeisance at Kartarpur Sahib

Dharowali (Gurdaspur), Nov 16 (IANS) Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday announced that the entire state cabinet will pay obeisance at Kartarpur Sahib on November 18 as part of the first delegation after reopening of the Kartarpur corridor.
Addressing the gathering during a function to mark the death anniversary of former Punjab minister and Congress leader Santokh Singh Randhawa here, the Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for re-opening the Kartarpur corridor ahead of Prakash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev.
Channi said he had personally taken up the issue of reopening of the corridor with the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
He said this is a joyous occasion for the entire Punjabi community in general and the Sikhs in particular.
The Chief Minister said the Punjab government is on the path of resurrection and revolutionary changes are being introduced to provide responsive, transparent and accountable administration in the state.
He said every effort is being made to ensure the well-being of people by framing pro-people and development oriented policies.
Channi said already several initiatives have been taken and others are in the pipeline.
Sharif Chacha's claim to fame is rather unconventional. For years, he has been burying and cremating unclaimed dead bodies in Ayodhya. He has cremated/ buried over 25,000 dead bodies so far.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Vice President N. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This year, the list of Padma awards consists of seven Padma Vibhushans, 10 Padma Bhushan, and 102 Padma Shri.
The problems in the Punjab Congress seem to be far from over as the Channi government is being constantly cornered by its own state party chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and the top leadership has failed to evolve a consensus among the warring factions.
The arrested man has been identified as Yudhvir Singh of Jandiala Guru in Amritsar. He was a proclaimed offender and wanted in various NDPS cases. The police also recovered a high-end car from the accused.
In a major decision to regularise the services of nearly 36,000 employees ahead of the Assembly elections, the Punjab Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Punjab Protection and Regularisation of Contractual Employees Bill, 2021 to be introduced in the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha session for enactment.
The Punjab Cabinet on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Advocate General A.P.S. Deol -- a decision that is seen in political circles as lessening the "friction" between Chief Minister Charanjit Channi and Congress state chief Navjot Sidhu.
