Punjab Area Searched Following Tip-off Of Armed Men

    A massive search operation was carried out by the Punjab Police and other security agencies in and around a village in Hoshiarpur district of north Punjab following reports of unidentified armed men being spotted in the area.
     
    "A teacher told police that he had seen 3-4 suspicious people moving in a car in army uniforms with weapons near Purika village in Mukerian sub-division. A search operation was immediately launched in the area," a police officer said.
     
    The search operation was continuing till night. Mukerian is about 200 km from here.
     
    This is the second incident of armed men being reported by people in an area of north Punjab.
     
    On Sunday also, people reported movement of suspicious men near Pathankot town.
     
    Punjab has been on high alert following the July 27 terror attack by three terrorists on Dinanagar town in Gurdaspur district which left seven people dead.
