Punjab AAP Women's Wing Approaches Rights Panel Against Devinder Sehrawat

    Head of the women's wing of Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab Baljinder Kaur today sought strict action from National Commission for Women against Delhi lawmaker Devinder Sehrawat for allegedly defaming Punjabi women by levelling false allegations.
     
    In a complaint to the chairperson of the Delhi-based commission, Ms Kaur said that strict action should be taken against Mr Sehrawat as he leveled false allegations against AAP leaders and attempted to harm the image of women of Punjab.
     
    His allegations have resulted in a lot of harassment among not just women but whole of Punjab, she wrote.
     
    She sought that lawmaker from Bijwasan, Delhi should be arrested and immediately sent to a hospital for his mental treatment, as without any direct evidence he had levelled serious allegations against leaders of AAP.
     
    She also accused Mr Sehrawat of openly threatening and abusing his father Parkash Sehrawat for not fulfilling his demands for money.
     
    Ms Kaur also alleged that his wife Poonam on several occasions had claimed that lawmaker used to abuse her and beat her while in the army.
     
    Yesterday, a delegation led by Ms Kaur who is also AAP's candidate from Talwandi Sabo, had met Chairperson of Punjab Women Commission Paramjit Kaur Landra and had lodged a formal complaint against the Delhi legislator.
     
    Meanwhile, AAP party spokesperson and national executive member Yamini Gaumer along with leader Rupinder Kaur Ruby also lodged a complaint with Scheduled Caste Commission, Punjab against Mr Sehrawat and demanded action against him.
     
    In the complaint, Ms Gaumer claimed that the allegations levelled by Mr Sehrawat against AAP leaders were "totally baseless". Mr Sehrawat had earlier shot off a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleging "exploitation of women" by a few partymen in Punjab in return for tickets.
