Jaipur, Feb 13 (IANS) President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday evening reached Rajasthan. She is on a two day -- February 13 and 14 -- visit to the desert state.

The President reached Jaipur by a special plane from Surat and was warmly received at Sanganer Airport by the Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.

She drove straight to Raj Bhavan, where she was welcomed by Governor Kalraj Mishra.

On Wednesday, the President will visit Mehandipur Balaji temple. Thereafter, she will go to Beneshwar Dham in Dungarpur where she will participate in the Women's Conference which will be organised under the Lakhpati Didi programme.

The President will also offer prayers in temples located at Beneshwar Dham.

Fresh pictures that emerged from the site of the Silkyara tunnel collapse in Uttarakhand showed that the 41 labourers trapped inside were mostly safe, an official said on Tuesday, adding that those engaged in the rescue operations will now try to drill the tunnel vertically to create an evacuation passage. Thick pipes have been brought to the Silkyara Tunnel by helicopter from Odisha and a large vertical drilling machine has been brought to create the evacuation passage.

40 boats gutted in fire at Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour
A huge fire at the Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour has destroyed over 40 boats. The incident happened late on Sunday night. The fire, which broke out in one of the boats around 11 p.m., spread to other boats. Fire engines rushed to the scene. The fire was controlled in the early hours of Monday.
