PM Modi congratulates ZPM on winning Mizoram election, assures of all possible support

New Delhi, Dec 4 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) over its victory in the Mizoram assembly elections and assured it of all possible support in furthering the progress of the northeastern state.

The remarks from the Prime Minister came after the ZPM won 27 seats out of 40 in the state and the MNF managed to win 10 seats. The BJP won two seats and the Congress one in the recently concluded assembly election, for which the counting took place on Monday.
The Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud, has recommended the appointment of 11 additional judges of the Punjab & Haryana High Court as permanent judges. On May 20, the Collegium of the Punjab & Haryana Court unanimously forwarded its recommendation naming Justices Nidhi Gupta, Sanjay Vashisth, Tribhuvan Dahiya, Namit Kumar, Harkesh Manuja, Aman Chaudhary, Naresh Singh, Harsh Bunger, Jagmohan Bansal, Deepak Manchanda, and Alok Jain.

Customs officials at the Hyderabad airport have arrested a man for allegedly smuggling 636 grams of gold valued at Rs 38.62 lakhs. A senior Customs official stated that the accused was arrested based on profiling after he arrived from Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
The Supreme Court on Thursday said that it will be required to examine if remission applications of convicts in the Bilkis Bano case were given any preferential treatment by the Gujarat government.
