PM Modi congratulates ZPM on winning Mizoram election, assures of all possible support

New Delhi, Dec 4 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) over its victory in the Mizoram assembly elections and assured it of all possible support in furthering the progress of the northeastern state.

The remarks from the Prime Minister came after the ZPM won 27 seats out of 40 in the state and the MNF managed to win 10 seats. The BJP won two seats and the Congress one in the recently concluded assembly election, for which the counting took place on Monday.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday said digitisation of the Vidhan Sabha will act as a cornerstone for enhancing the efficiency of the MLAs to raise issues of public concern and for people to judge their performance. The Chief Minister while addressing the assembly after the launch of the National e-Vidhan Application said it is a revolutionary step aimed at making the legislatures more effective and responsive.

Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait has said that the farmers will be forced to step up their agitation against the government if their demands, including free electricity for irrigation and higher SAP for sugarcane, were not met. Tikait told reporters that the recent agitation of farmers in Lucknow was not driven by any political agenda in view of the Lok Sabha elections due next year.
