Plastic bags found inside body of Delhi girl, says family

New Delhi, Jan 30 (IANS) Family members of a 15-year-old girl, who died two days after getting operated at a Delhi hospital, have alleged that her organs had been removed by hospital authorities.
Police said that they are investigating the allegations and proceedings to get an autopsy done by a medical board are underway.
The family alleged that after an operation of appendicitis at a hospital, in which she died, plastic bags, used for collecting urine, were found in her stomach area.
The deceased's brother Mohammad Irfan said that they were not allowed to visit her in the hospital for several days despite an operation for appendicitis.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, North, Sagar Singh Kalsi, the girl was admitted to HRH hospital due to some intestinal problem on January 21 and was operated on January 24.
"On January 26, she was declared dead and the parents took her body from the hospital without any type of complaint. On reaching their home, they called the police and stated that they suspected some of her organs had been removed," he said.
The DCP said a Medico-Legal case (MLC) was got prepared by the Usmanpur police station at Jagparwesh Hospital, Shahdara in which no such allegations were made.
"The body was preserved at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and currently, proceedings to get a post-mortem by a Medical Board are underway," he added.
Meanwhile, the brother of the deceased claimed that after his sister passed away, the hospital asked them to take away her body immediately.
"They told us to take the body of my sister immediately else they will shift it into a mortuary and then the process of handing over the body would take more than 20 days," Irfan said.
The body was then handed over to the family and they took it to their home in Delhi's Bhajanpura area. "When the females in our family were readying the body for burial and removed bandages off the stomach area, the flesh was torn apart and they found some plastic bags inside the body," he said.
The family then immediately contacted the local police which took the body into their possession for a probe.
The Chief Minister, while interacting with the media after reviewing the progress of development projects worth Rs 167 crore in the city, said it is ironic that the Maharajas in power were more concerned about their own development rather than that of the city. He said though Patiala was known as 'City of Gardens' but due to apathy of those in power, the city lost its shine in the last few years.
Punjab Police's former Head Constable Gagandeep Singh, who planted the bomb at the court complex on December 23, 2021, was killed as it suddenly went off. Six others were injured. The case was initially registered at a Ludhiana police station, but later, it was taken over by the NIA.
Her statement comes after she was dragged by a man when she had gone for an inspection at AIIMS in the early hours of January 19. The man had started making lewd and vulgar gestures towards Maliwal and she was reprimanding him when he asked her to sit in his car, the man suddenly pulled the car glass up and hand of Maliwal got stuck in car's window,
The incident occurred on November 26 last year when the drunk passenger allegedly urinated on a co-passenger in her 70s in the business class of an Air India flight from New York to Delhi. Aviation regulator DGCA on January 5 had said that the conduct of Air India was unprofessional and has led to a systemic failure.
In a surprise move, the Uttar Pradesh government, on Thursday, opposed the bail plea of Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra's son, who is one of the accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, in the Supreme Court. Additional Advocate General for Uttar Pradesh Garima Prasad told a bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice J.K. Maheshwari that the crime is "grave".
Last year in June, the Supreme Court dismissed a plea filed by Zakia Jafri, widow of former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, challenging a clean chit given by the Special Investigation Team to then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and several others in the 2002 Gujarat riots.
