Pakistan’s Gopal Singh Chawla On Jalandhar Police Radar For Espionage

Darpan News Desk IANS, 30 Aug, 2019 08:23 PM

Pro-Khalistan leader and former secretary of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Gopal Singh Chawla is on the radar of the Jalandhar (Rural) police following the arrest of his ‘aide’ Harpal Singh Pala for espionage from Bhatija village of Kartarpur three days ago.

Pala was intercepted by the CIA staff after he made a direct call to Chawla on August 15. An FIR was registered against him at the Kartarpur police station under Sections 121 and 121-A of the IPC, sources said.

SSP Jalandhar (Rural) Navjot Mahal said the court extended his three-day police remand by four days as some vital information was yet to be retrieved from his cellphone.

The police sources claim Pala, who runs a dairy, was working for the ISI through Chawla and was passing on information related to the IAF base at Adampur where his family lived.

According to the FIR, besides Chawla, Pala was in touch with Pakistan agents, including Kulwant Singh Muthada, Preet Kamal Grewal, Ranjit Singh Neeta and Paramjit Singh Panjwar, giving them information on the movement of forces at Adampur.
