Pakistan Rangers target Indian posts in Jammu

Darpan News Desk IANS, 13 Jan, 2015 11:03 AM
Pakistan Rangers overnight resorted to unprovoked targeting of the Border Security Force (BSF) posts on the international border in Jammu and Kashmir, police said Tuesday.

"Pakistan Rangers used mortars and automatic weapons to target three border outposts of the BSF in Samba district (of the Jammu region) yesterday (Monday)," a senior police officer told IANS here.

"Pakistan shelling started at 8 p.m. The BSF retaliated effectively," the officer said.

"Firing exchanges continued till 11.35 p.m. No casualty or damage has so far been reported on our side," the officer added.

More than 10,000 residents of border villages in Samba and Kathua districts are lodged in makeshift camps away from their homes following indiscriminate shelling of civilian habitations by Pakistan earlier this month.
