Pakistan fires at Indian positions on LoC

Darpan News Desk IANS, 14 Aug, 2014 08:50 AM
The Pakistan Army fired without any provocation at Indian positions on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, an official said Thursday.

"Pakistan Army carried out unprovoked firing using small arms and automatic weapons to target our positions in Hamirpur area of the LoC yesterday (Wednesday) night," defence spokesman Colonel Manish Mehta told IANS here.

The firing started around 9 p.m. Wednesday in Poonch district.

"Our troops gave a befitting reply using similar calibre weapons," the spokesman said.

No casualty or damage has been reported from our side so far, he added.

An Indian soldier was injured Wednesday when the Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire on the LoC in Mendhar area of Poonch district.

Pakistan's paramilitary rangers also fired at three posts of the Border Security Force (BSF) on the international border in R.S. Pura area of Jammu district Wednesday.
