Not Your Father's Cab': Man Forcibly Sits In Taxi, Woman Calls Cops

  • Not Your Father's Cab': Man Forcibly Sits In Taxi, Woman Calls Cops
A journalist working with a business newspaper in Mumbai has alleged that a man who claimed to be a policeman forcibly got into the taxi in which she was travelling. The woman said the intruder abused her when she asked him to leave the cab near Chhatrapati  Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in south Mumbai yesterday evening.

Though the man claimed to be a cop, he was in plainclothes, the woman said, adding he suddenly opened the front passenger door and sat on the front seat while the car was stuck in traffic. He then asked the driver to drop him at his destination, the woman said.

It was when she protested and threatened that she would call the police that he said to her he was a policeman himself, the woman wrote in a post on social media. The journalist, however, asked the driver not to move until the man got down.

She said the man argued with her for a while, and told her "tere baap ki gaadi nahi hai (it's not your father's cab)." The man exited the cab after some time when she stood her ground.

After getting information about the incident, Joint Commissioner of Police (law and order) Deven Bharti called the journalist and assured that police would look into the matter. The police officer said action would be taken against the man whether he was a policeman or not, the journalist said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Manojkumar Sharma and his team rushed to the spot after the incident. "We are trying to find out what exactly happened and find the man who misbehaved with the woman," Mr Sharma told.

Police are looking at CCTV footage of the area where the cab had stopped. No police complaint has been filed so far.
