The NHRC has issued notice to Punjab over the deaths of five babies in a Ludhiana hospital due to alleged lack of medical facilities, a statement said Tuesday.
 
Taking suo motu cognizance of a media report, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notice to Punjab principal secretary of health and family welfare department, seeking a report within two weeks.
 
Citing media reports, the NHRC said five newborn died at Mother and Child Hospital in Field Ganj, Ludhiana Nov 23 due to lack of medical facilities.
 
The deaths occurred two days after the inauguration of the hospital by the state health minister, the commission said.
