Newly Married Woman Killed For Dowry, 3 Held In Ghaziabad

    A newly married woman was shot dead allegedly by her husband and his family for dowry in Meerpur Hindu village of Tronica city area of this district, police said on Thursday.
     
    Alisha, married to Momin alias Shahrukh for eight months, was shot dead by her husband on Wednseday for not getting a car as dowry, DSP Anil Yadav said.
     
    According to a complaint filed by Alisha's brother Shafique, Shahrukh was demanding a car from the first day of marriage.
     
    The brother alleged that last evening Shahrukh and his family fired a bullet hitting her on the forehead, the officer said, adding, she died on the spot.
     
    A case under sections 304B, 302 and 498 A of IPC has been registered against Shahrukh, his brother Aasif, his father Kayyum, his mother and sister following the complaint by the victim's brother, the officer said.
     
    While Shahrukh, his brother and father have been arrested, his sister and mother are absconding, he said, adding, the body has been sent for postmortem.
