Newly Married Woman Found Hanging In Ghaziabad

Darpan News Desk IANS, 17 Apr, 2015 12:33 PM
  • Newly Married Woman Found Hanging In Ghaziabad
A 28-year-old woman, who was married just three months ago, was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her bedroom here on Friday.

Police said it received a call that a woman has been found hanging from the ceiling fan of her bedroom in the Shalimar Garden Extension II Sahibabad.

Her mother-in-law said that her daughter-in-law, Manju Singh Rawat, was short-tempered and she committed suicide at 2.00 p.m. in a fit of anger over a small family issue.

The deceased woman's sister Deepa Singh said her sister had done a diploma in journalism; was fluent in English and had shown her talent in a show on Zee news. She also held Masters of Commerce degree and was married to an undergraduate husband.

"Our family was misled by bridegroom's conservative family that instigated her to commit suicide," Deepa Singh alleged.

Manju Singh Rawat had married Virender Singh Rawat on January 25, 2015 who works as an executive in a private company. He was simultaneously pursuing his bachelor's degree in Engineering from a private institute. He is the youngest in his family.

"Manju used to live in a joint family where her elder sister-in-law, mother-in-law and father-in-law used to torture her regularly. Her mother-in-law Basanti Devi was cruel to her," said Deep Singh, who lives in the same locality.

"Her mother-in-law and sister-in-law had been instrumental in instigating her to take such extreme step," she added.

Police refused to reveal about its observation of the incident prior to investigation.
