An Army soldier from Punjab was on Friday killed in cross-border firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.

The soldier has been identified as Naik Bakhtawar Singh (34), of Hajipur village in Mukerian, Hoshiarpur district.

He is survived by his wife Jasbir Kaur and three children, son aged 11, daughter aged 9 and another son aged 10 months.

Giving details, PRO Defence said the Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked firing on Indian Army posts in Nowshera sector at around 5.15 am today.
