MP: Preparations begin for Priyanka's June 12 Jabalpur rally

Bhopal, May 12 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Congress unit on Friday kicked-started its preparation for a mega rally of party leader Priyanka Gandhi in Jabalpur on June 12.
Veteran leader and vice president of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Chandraprabhash Shekhar told IANS that it would be a mega event, which will set the tone for the Assembly polls due this year end.
Former minister Shekhar, who is in charge of the preparation, will hold a meeting with party's leaders and workers from Mahakaushal region. "I will be visiting Jabalpur on May 20 and hold discussion regarding the event."
He further said that the Congress will highlight its proposed financial scheme for women- "Nari Samman Yojna" and the party's national general secretary would appeal to women voters to extend their support to the party.
Madhya Pradesh's Mahakaushal region has 38 Assembly seats and the Congress had won 24 of them prompting the Central BJP leadership to focussed in the region.
The Delhi government has called an emergency meeting after the Covid cases spiked on Wednesday. A total of 300 new Covid infections in the last 24 hours were recorded in the national capital, which is a rise over Tuesday's 214 cases, as per the Delhi government health bulletin.
Asserting that the situation was likely to worsen in the coming days, Badal said the summer season had not started but the state power utility had started imposing power cuts of as much as eight hours per day even in cities.
In a video message to the farmers, he said several crops were grown on the fertile land but gradually the farmers confined themselves to paddy only. As per the police, the cover over an old stepwell, around 50 to 60 feet deep, on which devotees were standing to offering their prayers, caved in, due to which around 30 people fell into it. Panic spread as people started crying after seeing their beloved gasping for life in the deep well.
