Moga Akali Leader's Son Booked For 'Abducting' Minor Girl

IANS, 01 Aug, 2017 01:35 PM
The police on Monday booked a local Akali leader’s son for allegedly abducting a minor girl from a Moga village, police said here on Tuesday.

According to the details, Sadhu Singh, son of Akali leader Mall Singh, who is chairman of the Moga-2 Block Samiti, allegedly jumped over the boundary wall of a house at Ghal Kalan village and abducted the girl last week.

The girl’s mother, in her statement to the police, said the entire family had gone to sleep at night, but in the morning the girl was missing.

“We tried to look for her at our relatives’ place in the village and at other locations, but could not find her,”
    she said.

A couple of days later, the family came to know that the girl had been abducted by Sadhu and associates.

A complaint was filed with the police. Police station (rural) SHO Ramesh Pal and investigating officer Surinder Pal, during the preliminary findings, came to know that Sadhu had abducted the girl.

It came to light during the preliminary findings that Sadhu was married but had divorced his wife owing to a dispute. Sadhu allegedly wanted to marry the girl. Since, she was a minor, the family was against it.

The police have registered a case against Sadhu under Sections 363 and 366 of the IPC and a hunt has been launched to nab him and trace the girl.
