Modi congratulates AAP for Punjab sweep, assures Centre's help

New Delhi, March 10 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for its clean sweep in the Punjab Assembly elections, and assured the party of all possible help from the Centre.
In a series of tweets, Modi expressed his gratitude to the voters and party workers and congratulated AAP for winning Punjab.
The Prime Minister also assured AAP of all possible support from the Centre for the welfare of Punjab.
"I would like to congratulate AAP for their victory in the Punjab elections. I assure all possible support from the Centre for Punjab's welfare," he said.
In another tweet, Modi said, "The people of UP, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur have showered @BJP4India with great affection. My gratitude to the people of these states. Our party cherishes these blessings and will keep working for the development of these states."
Lauding the hard work put in by BJP workers in the five states that went to the polls, Modi said, "Our party 'karyakartas' worked tirelessly among the people. They spoke about our good governance agenda and highlighted our pro-people efforts. I salute each and every party 'karyakarta' for their exceptional efforts."
Sharif Chacha's claim to fame is rather unconventional. For years, he has been burying and cremating unclaimed dead bodies in Ayodhya. He has cremated/ buried over 25,000 dead bodies so far.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Vice President N. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This year, the list of Padma awards consists of seven Padma Vibhushans, 10 Padma Bhushan, and 102 Padma Shri.
The problems in the Punjab Congress seem to be far from over as the Channi government is being constantly cornered by its own state party chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and the top leadership has failed to evolve a consensus among the warring factions.
The arrested man has been identified as Yudhvir Singh of Jandiala Guru in Amritsar. He was a proclaimed offender and wanted in various NDPS cases. The police also recovered a high-end car from the accused.
In a major decision to regularise the services of nearly 36,000 employees ahead of the Assembly elections, the Punjab Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Punjab Protection and Regularisation of Contractual Employees Bill, 2021 to be introduced in the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha session for enactment.
The Punjab Cabinet on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Advocate General A.P.S. Deol -- a decision that is seen in political circles as lessening the "friction" between Chief Minister Charanjit Channi and Congress state chief Navjot Sidhu.
