Darpan News Desk IANS, 04 Jul, 2016 11:59 AM
The famous Banke Bihari Temple in Vridavan may soon be centrally air-conditioned, officials of the shrine said on Sunday.

Looking at the number of pilgrims especially on Saturdays and Sundays and during festivals, the committee is contemplating making the temple centrally air conditioned, vice president of the temple committee Rajat Goswami said.

An air conditioned hall will also be constructed adjacent to the 'bhog bhandar', where devotees can take rest.

"We have decided to construct an AC hall very close to the bhog bhandar. Pilgrims may take rest in this hall during post rajbhog darshan and pre-shayan bhog darshan," he said.

An RO plant with a capacity of 2,000 litres has been setup to provide clean drinking water to people.

According to the former vice president of the committee, revenue of the temple has increased manifold in the last three years.

"The income of the temple has shot up from Rs. 67 crore to Rs. 112 crore during the last three years," Ghanshyam Goswami said.

"The Mehrab (arc) of the sanctum sanctorum, gates and the main gate of the temple has been covered with silver with donations from the devotees," he said. A power sub-station of 33 KV has also been set up at the temple.
