Man Sentenced To 10 Years Imprisonment For Raping Own Daughter In Andhra Pradesh

IANS, 07 Sep, 2016 11:29 AM
A local court on Tuesday sentenced a man to 10-years imprisonment for raping his minor daughter and also slapped a fine of Rs. 1 lakh on him.

The convict, Shaikh Mastan Vali, was a mason and resident of Vallurupalem village near Vijayawada in Krishna district. He was arrested a year ago, according to a press release issued by the Police Commissioner's office.

The 37-year-old has a daughter and a son, but they along with their mother were staying separately for the last few years. Last year, he approached his wife and asked her to send their daughter to stay with him for a few days. She obliged, said the release.

After bringing his 15-year-old daughter, a Class 10 student, to his house, Vali sexually abused and also raped her for about 15 days, the release said.

The girl went to her mother and narrated the incident. Immediately, the woman filed a case against her husband with Thotlavallur Police Station.

Vali was arrested by police on September 2, 2015 and booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

After end of the trial, the court convicted the mason and sentenced him to 10 years in jail and also imposed on him a fine of Rs. 1 lakh, of which Rs. 75,000 is to be deposited in the victim's account in a nationalised bank, it added.
