Man Arrested At Mangalore International Airport For Possessing 26 Passports

    A Dubai bound person has been arrested after the immigration officers at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) found 26 passports of other citizens in his possession, official sources said.
     
    The accused, identified as Mr Abdullah Palakkan, was about to leave for Dubai from Mangaluru. He was arrested by the Airport officials yesterday during security check for illegally carrying 26 passports among which the 2 belonged to US Nationals and the remaining were of Indians.
     
    None of the passports carried authorization letter.
     
    As per the Passport Act 1967, Passports should be in the custody of either the holder or a person authorised by the holder.
     
    As Mr Abdulla could not produce authorisation letters, he was arrested for illegally carrying the passports, the sources said.
