Liquor policy case: Delhi CM Kejriwal's judicial custody extended till Aug 8

New Delhi, July 25 (IANS) A court here on Thursday extended, till August 8, judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam.

Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of Rouse Avenue Court passed the order upon the expiry of the previously granted judicial custody.

Last week, the Delhi High Court reserved its verdict on a plea filed by CM Kejriwal challenging his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the corruption case.

A Bench of Justice Neena Bansal Krishna also reserved its verdict on his plea seeking release on interim bail.

The Supreme Court, on July 12, ordered CM Kejriwal to be released on interim bail in connection with the money laundering case linked to the excise policy case.

However, he was not able to walk out of jail since he was arrested by the CBI.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials conducted simultaneous raids at the premises of three real estate promoters on Friday, an official said. Sources told IANS that the raids were conducted in connection with money laundering charges. The ED acted on a case registered by the Tamil Nadu unit of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC).

Goa Police on Thursday seized drugs -- charas, ganja and ecstasy -- valued at Rs 18.3 lakh, an official said here. Police said that the Anti-Narcotic Cell conducted a raid and found one person in alleged possession of drugs at Vagator in North Goa.

India will put into orbit its new meteorological satellite INSAT-3DS on February 17 at 5.30 p.m. with the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) rocket, the Indian space agency said on Thursday.
