Land registration through e-stamping in Punjab from October

Darpan News Desk IANS, 11 Sep, 2014 10:46 AM
  • Land registration through e-stamping in Punjab from October
Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal Thursday asked senior officers of the revenue department, divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure that all land registrations and mutation of deeds should be done under e-stamping from mid-October.

Badal, at a meeting here, finalized the initiation of unique e-stamping program. He said that all deeds and land registrations above Rs.50,000 would be made under e-stamping.

He asked the deputy commissioners to take all stakeholders, including stamp vendors, on board and to educate them about the computerization of stamp duty advanced system (C-SDAS) so that the unique programme could be implemented properly.

Punjab is signing an agreement with Stock Holding Corporation of India, a central record-keeping agency, to implement and monitor the programme properly.

Elaborating the benefits of e-stamping system, Badal said that the stamp certificate could be generated within minutes and was tamper proof.

Terming it as a cost-saving and user-friendly method, he said that e-stamp certificates would have a unique identification number and its authenticity could be checked anytime and anywhere.
