Kejriwal asks Omar if AAP could be of more help to Kashmir

Darpan News Desk IANS, 24 Sep, 2014 11:26 AM
  • Kejriwal asks Omar if AAP could be of more help to Kashmir
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has written to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah asking if his party could be of more help to the flood-affected people of the state besides the donations made by the party's Delhi lawmakers from their area development fund.

In a letter dated 22 Sep, the former Delhi chief minister said: "The Aam Aadmi Party MLAs wish to contribute Rs.20 lakh each (total Rs.5.4 crore) from their MLALAD fund toward relief work (in Jammu and Kashmir)."

"In addition to this, all four MPs of the Aam Aadmi Party have committed to donate Rs.15 lakh each from their MPLAD fund towards this cause," said the letter written in English.

Kejriwal said he has also written a letter to Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung for the early release of funds.

"Please accept this humble contribution from our side. Kindly do let us know if we can be of any more help to our brothers and sisters of Jammu and Kashmir. We hope and pray to god that life resumes its normal course at the earliest."

Kejriwal also informed Abdullah that AAP volunteers were working round-the-clock to help the people of Kashmir.
