Justin Trudeau Greeting Refugees At Airport Gets Ton Of International News Coverage

Darpan News Desk, 11 Dec, 2015 11:55 AM
WASHINGTON — There's a ton of international news coverage today of Canada's prime minister welcoming Syrian refugees to the country.

    That coverage is generally laudatory.

The story of Justin Trudeau greeting refugees at the airport was covered in numerous countries and was atop the New York Times website, along with a video.

The Washington Post suggested that public attitudes in Canada and the U.S. aren't actually all that different on refugees — it cited polls that show a majority in both countries support resettlment.

But several media outlets pointed out to a big difference in the political tone. Just a few days ago, Republican presidential-poll front-runner Donald Trump proposed banning all Muslim visitors to the U.S.

The headline on GQ's site was: "Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Just Gave U.S. Politicians a Refreshing Lesson in Compassion."
