Iqbal Singh Removed As Jathedar Of Takht Patna Sahib

Darpan News Desk IANS, 05 Mar, 2019 08:24 PM

In a significant move, Giani Iqbal Singh has been removed as “Jathedar” of Takht Sri Patna Sahib.

As a stop-gap arrangement, Takht Patna Sahib priest Rajinder Singh has been appointed as officiating Jathedar of the Sikh temporal seat.

This decision was taken during the crucial meeting of management board of Takht Patna Sahib under the aegis of president Avtar Singh Hit today.

The Akal Takht has directed the management board to formally accept the resignation of polygamous Giani Iqbal Singh against whom many telephonic and written complaints were received.

Confirming the development, Akal Takht’s acting Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh told that one or two board members have been asked to join the seven-member probe panel to conduct a fresh inquiry into the allegations levelled against Giani Iqbal Singh. “If found guilty, he would be summoned to appear before the Akal Takht,” he said.
