Inter-state narco cartel busted, over 300 kg cannabis worth Rs 1 cr seized

New Delhi, April 27 (IANS) With the arrest of three men, the Delhi Police have busted an inter-state nacro traffickers' cartel with possible links with Naxals, an official said on Thursday.
The police have also recovered over 300 kilograms of cannabis worth more than Rs 1 crore from them.
The accused were identified as Pratap (45), a resident of Rampura in Delhi; Lakhan (23) and Pooran (22) - both residents of Okhla Mod.
According to police, specific inputs were received on Wednesday that three persons, who are involved in the drug peddling, will assemble near Naraina Flyover to supply drugs.
"Acting on the inputs, a police team immediately laid a trap near Naraina Flyover, Ring Road and all three were apprehended," said Akshat Kaushal, additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).
A total of 20 bundles were recovered from them. "On checking the bundles, the packets of cannabis were found concealed in it. A total of 301.15 kg of cannabis was recovered," said Kaushal.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the contraband substance was sourced from Muniguda in Odisha.
"Initial interrogation has revealed that the contraband substance was to be sold in Delhi and adjoining areas. The arrested individuals have revealed the names of their handlers, names of whom are being withheld at this stage," said the official.
"So far, we have not found any direct Naxal link. The material is sourced from Muniguda, the place which has traditionally been part of the red-corridor but we are probing the case with all angles," said the official.
"Further investigation is in progress and efforts are being made to nab the complete chain of suppliers," the official added.
The accused was allowed treatment at the Meggaon Hospital of Shivamogga considering his heart ailment on Wednesday. Murugha Sharanaru was arrested following the complaint by two minor girls, who accused him of sexually exploiting them and threatening them.
A senior CBI official said that a case was registered against the Ved Prakash, the SI posted at Police Station Jaffarpur Kalan, District Dwarka, Delhi on a complaint. It was alleged that the accused was demanding Rs 50,000 from the victim for helping with a complaint pending against him besides settling a land dispute in his favour.
The Chief Minister said instead of paddy, the farmer of the state is ready to sow sunflower, maize, and pulses but for that they must get adequate and assured price. He said this will help checking the depleting water table in the state, on one hand, and making agriculture a profitable venture on the other.
Two persons injured in a road accident on Tuesday-- Sumit Gaur (21),and Mahboob Siddique (20) -- were declared dead and their bodies were kept at the hospital morgue overnight. When Sumit's relatives arrived at the mortuary to claim the body on Wednesday, they found multiple bite marks on his face. The rats had nibbled the nose, they alleged.
Raids on locations related to Popular Front of India (PFI) are being carried out in eight places in Uttar Pradesh. Mohammad Waseem, resident of Indira Nagar in Lucknow, has been taken away by the NIA sleuths, according to official sources. Waseem runs a tailoring shop and digital documents were recovered from his possession during the raid.
In a statement, the Chief Minister said the government will approach the Supreme Court against the arbitrary and anti-democratic decision of the Governor to cancel the permission of holding a special session of the Vidhan Sabha after giving permission for it. He said it is an unfortunate move and they will move to the apex court against this irrational decision.
