India will give befitting reply to Pakistan: Amit Shah

Darpan News Desk IANS, 25 Aug, 2014 08:44 AM
India will give a "befitting reply" to the repeated ceasefire violations in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistan, BJP president Amit Shah said Monday.

"Home Minister Rajnath Singh has clearly said that if Pakistan resorts to firing, we will definitely give a befitting reply to them," Shah said.

He is on a visit to the R.S. Pura area of Jammu where he will meet villagers living close to the international border in the state.

He assured the villagers who were displaced due to relentless shelling by Pakistani forces that the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) government will look into their problems, particularly of those displaced after the partition in 1947 and the 1965 and 1971 wars with Pakistan.

However, he said he cannot guarantee voting rights to those who took shelter here from the other side of the border.

"As far as voting rights are concerned, we cannot take a call on that. The Jammu and Kashmir state government has to take a call on that," Shah said.

He also expressed hope that the BJP will form the next state government in Jammu and Kashmir.
