India reports 7,830 new Covid cases, active caseload tops 40k

New Delhi, April 12 (IANS) In the last 24 hours, India reported 7,830 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the country's overall caseload to 40,215, according to the latest Union Health Ministry data released on Wednesday.
The data revealed that the daily and weekly positivity rates currently stood at 3.65 per cent and 3.83 per cent, respectively.
Meanwhile, 4,692 recoveries in the last 24 hours increased the total recoveries to 4,42,04,771.
In the same period, 2,14,242 tests were conducted increased the total number to 92.32 crore.
Also in the last 24 hours, 441 doses were administered. The country has so far administered 220.66 crore vaccine doses.
The active cases stand at 0.09 per cent and the recovery rate is 98.72 per cent.
The police have also recovered a major portion of the loot from them even as the incident on Monday sent shockwaves in the glittering Zaveri Bazar area - the hub of gold jewellery business in south Mumbai.
As Bhagwanpuria's counsel Deepak Sharma said that there was danger to the life of his client, the Punjab Police said then keeping the threats in mind, they brought extra vehicles with armed police personnel for the safety of the accused.
According to the cause list uploaded on the apex court website, a bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and J.K. Maheshwari will pronounce the order on January 25. The apex court had reserved its order on Mishra's plea on January 19.

After the process of identification is over, the bodies will be brought to Ghazipur. On January 16, family members of the four youths were sent to Kathmandu by road with head of Chak Jainab village Vijay Jaiswal, nayab tehsildar and a revenue inspector to claim and bring back the bodies.
