India Ready For Scheduled Talks On Kartarpur Corridor

Darpan News Desk IANS, 28 Feb, 2019 09:43 PM

India on Thursday said the country is open for talks on the Kartarpur corridor that were scheduled for March 13 and receive the delegation from Pakistan, top sources in the government said.

Emphasising that the issue was one that is connected with the sentiments of a significant population of the country, New Delhi said it would welcome the delegation to take forward the project to create a corridor from India to Pakistan connecting the Kartarpur shrine.

Sources said India has not called it off nor has it stopped the Samjhauta Express train service between India and Pakistan.

Much before the Pulwama attack, both countries agreed upon the date when Islamabad will send across its team for discussions to operationalise the 4-km corridor. It was also agreed then that a delegation from India would pay a reciprocal visit for follow-up talks a fortnight later.
