The rapes have jolted Haryana just days after the state government basked in its most heartening sex ration ever - 914 girls to 1,000 boys - and credited its "beti bachao, beti padao (save daughters, educate them)" campaign with the vast improvement.
The medical examination of the 15-year-old girl, who was found dead near a canal in Jind district, revealed that she was raped by several individuals and had suffered immense internal injuries after the rapists inserted a blunt object into her genitals.
The body of the minor was found with injury marks near a canal in Budhakhera village of Jind district.
“Internal injury is found, her liver was ruptured and apart from that wounds from sexual assault are seen in her private parts. They have been mutilated and ruptured, and it seems that more than one person was involved,” head of Forensic Science Department, Dr SK Dhattarwal told
“It seems hard or blunt weapon was introduced,” he added.
The post-mortem also indicates that there might have been attempts to drown the victim, Dhattarwal informed, and added, “To confirm it, we have sent for the body for a diatom test.”
The body was found naked from below the chest.
The girl has been identified and it is found that she was missing from Kurukshetra since January 9.
Meanwhile, the family of the victim staged a protest in Kurushetra and demanded justice for her.
“My daughter was abducted and raped. The culprits should be punished, we want justice for her. If administration had done its job well, an incident like this would have never happened,” the father of the victim told.
A family member of the girl said she had been missing since she went for her tuition classes.
“Her aunt used to take her home from the tuition at 8 pm, but she was not there on January 9 when she (aunt) went to take her. The same day, we filed a complaint with the police. We then saw on social media that a body was found in Jind,” he said.
BRUTAL GANG RAPES: HARYANA POLICE CONDUCTING RAIDS TO NAB CULPRITS
Facing public rap for sluggish action after three brutal gang rapes were reported in the state, Haryana Police on Monday said raids were on to arrest the culprits.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also said that the police was making all efforts to arrest the accused.
Three cases of rape -- including two of minor girls -- were reported in the past one week.
A 15-year-old Class 10 student in Kurukshetra district was gang-raped and her private parts mutilated after her murder in adjoining Jind district. The victim was reported missing on January 9 after she left her home for tuition. A Class 12 student has been detained for questioning.
An 11-year-old Dalit girl was raped and murdered allegedly by her two neighbours in Panipat district on Saturday night. Accused Pradeep Kumar, 27, and Sagar, 22, lured the victim away when she went out of her house to throw garbage.
Both accused have been arrested.
On Saturday night, a 22-year-old woman was abducted and gang-raped by four unidentified men in a sport utility vehicle.
POLICE LOOK FOR MISSING CLASS 12 STUDENT
Haryana Police have expedited efforts to ascertain the whereabouts of a Balmiki youth, a student of Class 12, for questioning in the rape and murder case of a 15-year-old Dalit girl at a village in Jind.
The boy went missing from Jhansa village under mysterious circumstances on January 9.
Parents of the 15-year-old Dalit girl, whose brutalised body was recovered more than 100 km away from the village on Friday night, had lodged a police complaint on January 9.
However, no one has approached the police so far about the missing youth.
Family sources said the victim and the boy knew each other and they used to go for tuition together. However, they did not reach the tuition classes last Tuesday evening.
However, police sources said the family members of boy’s family left the village a few days ago for reasons unknown to the villagers.
Meanwhile, member of Haryana Women Commission Namrata Gaur, who met the aggrieved family members at Jhansa, told reporters there was an apprehension that the girl and another youth were abducted by unknown persons and subjected to abuse.
She said the victim and the youth had an affair and both families tried to counsel them a few days ago. But last Tuesday, they left home without informing the families, said Gaur.
