Shimla, July 12 (IANS) The Congress government in Himachal Pradesh on Friday at a Cabinet meeting decided to withdraw the free electricity scheme benefitting all income-tax payers.
However, the 125-unit free power subsidy to domestic consumers will continue for all other categories, including BPL and IRDP families.
A decision in this regard was taken at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the World Food India festival on Friday at Pragati Maidan here. He will also disburse seed capital assistance for over one lakh self help group (SHG) members, on the occasion. In view of deteriorating air quality and with GRAP-III now in force, the Delhi Metro on Thursday announced that it will run 60 additional train trips across its network starting from Friday. According to Delhi Metro officials, in view of the implementation of GRAP-III stage to combat pollution in Delhi, the DMRC will be further adding 20 extra trips across its network starting from November 3.
A Delhi court on Wednesday recorded the statement of former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar, who is accused in a case related to the alleged killing of a father-son duo during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The case, pertaining to the rioting and alleged murder of Jaswant Singh and his son Tarundeep Singh in the Raj Nagar area, was initially registered at the Panjabi Bagh police station.

The continuing air pollution levels in the national capital is increasing asthma and lung problems in children and the elderly, doctors said on Wednesday. According to data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the air quality in Delhi remained in the 'very poor' category as the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 336 on Wednesday morning. It is the fourth day in a row with such bad air.

PM Modi further said that every person in the country is proud of their victory as 111 medals are not a small number. India won a total of 111 medals including 29 gold medals in the Asian Para Games 2023.
