Heroin worth Rs 10 cr smuggled in from Pak seized in Raj; four held

Jaipur, June 21 (IANS) BSF jawans in Rajasthan have arrested four smugglers and recovered 2 kg heroin smuggled in from Pakistan using a drone. The contraband is worth Rs 10 crore in the international market, officials said on Wednesday.
The BSF and the police jointly carried out the operation and arrested the four smugglers, who had come to collect the supply dropped by a drone.
An attempt was made to deliver heroin to the miscreants using a drone near Anupgarh town in Sriganganagar district. At around 12 midnight on Tuesday, the BSF team heard the sound of the drone, and chased it.
Due to a technical glitch in the drone, it fell on the ground and 2 kg of heroin was seized during the search operation.
Meanwhile, the miscreants reached the spot on a car to collect the supply of heroin. However, seeing the BSF jawans, they fled from the spot taking advantage of the darkness.
Four of them were nabbed from the nearby areas later, who confessed to heroin smuggling during interrogation.
As many as 60 members of search teams carried out the extensive search on Tuesday in some 40 km in which a shocking fact came to the fore that in order to distill the illicit liquor from 'lahan', the water used was the one which came from the sewage of industrial units of Ludhiana city.
The case will come up for final hearing on July 5 after the summer break. Additional Solicitor General Satya Pal Jain refuted the allegations of illegal detention and said not even a single officer was detained.
According to sources, Singh, a resident of Faridkot, was the person who had launched the attack on Monday. A rocket-propelled grenade or RPG was fired from the street that shattered the window panes of Punjab Police's intelligence headquarters in Mohali.

The area around the Intelligence Bureau office has been sealed and investigation is in progress. A bomb disposal and forensic squads have been positioned at the spot. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann spoke to Director General of Police V.K. Bhawra and sought details about the incident.
