Have To Prove In Court If Honeypreet Played Role In Post August 25 Violence

Darpan News Desk IANS, 06 Oct, 2017 03:45 PM
Panchkula Police Commissioner A.S. Chawla on Friday said that the police was focussing on proving in the court if Honeypreet Insan had a role in ambushing violence following the sentencing of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

"It isn't a news story for us; we have to prove in the court if Honeypreet Insan had a role to play in the conspiracy and violence that took place on August 25, following the sentencing of the Dera chief," Police Commissioner A.S. Chawla told the media personnel.

"There were many speculations that Honeypreet had run abroad, but during our interrogation, nothing like that was revealed."

He also stated that they were conducing raids which is related to the other accused, especially Aditya Insan, who are highlighted in the case.

Chawla asserted that they were working towards arresting Aditya and a few others. He also said that few reports that were being circulated in the media were not verified.

Earlier on Thursday, Chawla said that Honeypreet Insan was not co-operating in the ongoing interrogation.

Honeypreet was sent to a six-day police remand by the Panchkula Court, earlier on Wednesday.

After a hunt of over a month by the police, Honeypreet was arrested on Tuesday at the highway near Chandigarh along with Sukhdeep.

The police was on the lookout for her in connection with the violence that broke out in Panchkula, when Ram Rahim was declared guilty of rape by a special CBI court.
