Haryana Woman Allegedly Kills Her Infant Grand Daughter For Want Of Grand Son

IANS, 28 Sep, 2016 12:05 PM
Blinded by her desire for a grand son, a woman allegedly killed her two-month old grand daughter by strangling and then throwing her on the floor in Haryana's Bahadurgarh town, police said on Tuesday.

The woman, identified as Sudesh, used to allegedly harass her daughter-in-law on various counts, they said.

The infant's mother has alleged that when she gave birth to the girl child nearly two months back, her in-laws started harassing her and asked her to stay back at her parent's house since she had given birth to a girl, police said.

"However, on Monday when she finally went to her in-law's house in Bahadurgarh, Sudesh in a fit of rage allegedly strangled the infant and later flung her on the floor," a police spokesperson said.

The shocked mother rushed the infant to a hospital where the doctors declared the child as dead.

When she returned with the child, Sudesh, her son and father-in-law allegedly snatched the dead infant from her and buried it nearby.

Taken aback, the infant's mother, called up her father in Sonipat over phone who then brought the matter to the notice of the police.

"Police on Tuesday exhumed the body and has sent it for postmortem examination. A murder case has been registered against Sudesh while her son and husband too have been booked under relevant provisions of the law," the spokesperson said.
