Harsimrat Badal, Amarinder Singh Trade Barbs On Jallianwala Centenary And General Dyer Link

Darpan News Desk IANS, 15 Apr, 2019 05:14 PM

Taking a dig at Akali leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal’s “ignorance”, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Sunday asked her to “spend some time on learning history” instead of expending all of it in launching Twitter tirades against him.

After Harsimrat posted some pictures and video to question him on his grandfather’s relations with General Dyer, the CM again asked her to explain her great grandfather’s dinner for General Dyer.

He said Harsimrat had no answer to his question on why she, her brother Bikram Majithia, husband Sukhbir Badal and her father-in-law Parkash Singh Badal had failed to apologise for the “shameful act” of her great grandfather.

Harsimrat tweeted: “And u @capt_amarinder proudly display these pictures in your lobby, or are you too ashamed of your grandfather?”

In response, the CM posted: “Amazed at how dumb someone can be! Can’t you see the difference @HarsimratBadal_ between General Dyer and Michael O’Dwyer, Punjab’s Lieutenant Governor who had no role in #JallianwalaBaghMassacre and was assassinated by Udham Singh? Are you so desperate that you’ll spread any disinformation to win?”

He posted, “I’d seriously advise you to brush up your history. Read a lot as after these elections people will make you sit at home and you would have a lot of free time. Happy reading!”
