Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday hailed Guru Gobind Singh on his birth anniversary Sunday and said he epitomized "ultimate courage" and the spirit of sacrifice.
"The life and ideals of Guru Gobind Singhji inspire eternally. He epitomized ultimate courage and a spirit of sacrifice. I bow to him," Modi said in a tweet about the 10th guru of the Sikhs.
Terming it a "sinister move of the Congress government in Haryana to dilute, divide and break up the supreme, sacred and historic" SGPC, Punjab's ruling Shiromani Akali Dal Tuesday said the move to set up a parallel body was a "direct assault on the Khalsa Panth (Sikh religion), its history, traditions and spiritual values".
