Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's Son JASMEET To Be Appointed New Caretaker Of Dera Sacha Sauda

IANS, 19 Sep, 2017 12:20 PM
Jasmeet Insan, son of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, may take over as the caretaker of the Sect, come this September 23.

27 years ago, on September 23, 1990, Gurmeet Ram Rahim was appointed as the third head of the Dera Sacha Sauda at the age of 23.

However, on August 26, he was convicted by a CBI special court for sexually assaulting two of his female disciples at his ashram and was subsequently given a 20-year imprisonment.

While Ram Rahim continues to remain the Dera chief despite his sentencing, speculations are there that his son Jasmeet may take over as the caretaker of the Sect.

On August 29, a day after Gurmeet's sentencing, Jasmeet was anointed the administrator of the Dera sect.

As per reports, Jasmeet has the backing of Ram Rahim's mother Nasib Kaur and wife Harjit Kaur.

Earlier, names of Dera chief's adopted daughter Honeypreet Insan and Dera chairperson Vipassana Insan were also doing the rounds.

Eighteen years after he raped two of his female disciples, the Dera Sacha Sauda chief was on August 28 sentenced to 20 years jail for rape and criminal intimidation and fined Rs 30 lakh.

The conviction of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the CBI court in Panchkula on August had sparked off large-scale violence by his followers which left 38 people dead and 264 others injured.
