Gautam Gambhir Slams Kejriwal-Led AAP Govt For Air Pollution In Delhi

IANS, 02 Nov, 2018 07:35 PM
Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who had attacked the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government over the rising pollution levels in the national capital, has clarified that he did the same as a responsible citizen and not because he is pro Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) or the Congress.

The 37-year-old further stated that the party in power should take up the responsibility of depleting air quality in the national capital.

Speaking to media, Gambhir said, "Seeing the depleting air quality of Delhi, it is mine and everybody's responsibility to take a stand and talk about it. I am not pro BJP or Congress, but the party which is in power should take the responsibility. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is in power so they should take responsibility for the air pollution."

Asking the Delhi government to stop blaming stubble burning and crackers for the rising pollution levels, Gambhir said that the air quality remains bad throughout the year in the state.

"AAP should stop blaming the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and instead take appropriate measures to control air quality. Stubble burning and Diwali crackers only worsen the air quality while it is already bad all year round. Hence, blaming only stubble burning and crackers is not an answer," he said.

Earlier, Gambhir had accused the Delhi government of making "false promises" to people and failing to curb pollution and dengue menace in Delhi, through a tweet.
