Four Canadians held while escaping through Bangladesh border

Darpan News Desk IANS, 21 Aug, 2014 08:49 AM
Four Canadians involved in credit card fraud have been apprehended in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district while trying to sneak out through the Bangladesh border, the Border Security Force (BSF) said Thursday.

Muralitharan, Prakash, Sugananthan and Chandramohan from Ontario were on bail after police in Chennai arrested them in connection with ATM and credit card fraud earlier this year.

"Acting on intelligence inputs, the four Canadians were arrested Wednesday night from the Haridaspur border outpost when they were trying to sneak out of the porous border," a BSF spokesperson said.

Three mobile phones, a tablet, three wrist watches and over Rs.2 lakh in Indian and American currencies were seized from them.

The four were handed over to police for interrogation.
