Former Indian Army Chief Gen JJ Singh (Retd) Joins Sad (Taksali)

IANS, 06 Feb, 2019 09:27 PM

Former chief of Army Staff and ex-governor Gen JJ Singh (retd) joined SAD (Taksali) in Amritsar on Wednesday.

Singh had resigned from the Shiromani Akali Dal citing personal reasons last month.

Singh, a former governor of Arunachal Pradesh, had joined the Akali Dal on the eve of the 2017 Punjab elections and had unsuccessfully contested against Congress veteran Capt Amarinder Singh from Patiala.

The entry to the Akali Dal was Singh’s first political stint.

On Tuesday, another senior leader and former Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Bir Devinder Singh had joined the SAD (Taksali) in the presence of party chief Ranjit Singh Brahmpura and other leaders, including Rattan Singh Ajnala and Sewa Singh Sekhwan in Jalandhar.
