Darpan News Desk IANS, 21 Mar, 2016 10:26 AM
Disabled Indian cyclist Jagwinder Singh on Monday launched a crowd-funding campaign to gather money to participate in Paralympics events.

Jagwinder, hailing from a small village called Patra near Patiala in Punjab, does not have two arms and uses his feet to do his daily chores. Yet, he nurtures a dream of winning at the Paralympics cycling championship and has launched the crowd-funding campaign on DesiredWings.com.

On the launch of his crowd-funding campaign Jagwinder said in a release: "To be able to compete on an international level, all athletes need international standards of training, coaching, nourishment and infrastructure. Through this crowd-funding initiative I hope to collect enough money to be able to keep on dreaming and following my passion. Your support is all I need. And I will leave no stone unturned to win an Olympics gold for my country."

Jagwinder Singh won the state gold medal in Paracycling organised by the Chandigarh Association in 2014. He bagged bronze in the International Cyclothon held in Odisha in 2015.

He completed the 212 kilometre cyclothon in 9 hours and 15 minutes, organised by the Green Biker Association, Patiala, in 2014.

He was awarded a gold medal for his artworks by the Indian Council for Child Welfare in 2000.

"I want to win the gold medal in the Olympics. I want to make my parents and my country proud."
