Delhi Police arrest editor of NewsClick; seize phones, laptops of journos

Police in New Delhi, India have arrested the editor of a news website and its human resources chief after raiding the homes of journalists working for the site and seizing their laptops and cellphones.

NewsClick has been critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Hindu nationalist-led government.

Citing the recent case of widespread raids on digital news website NewsClick carried out by the Special Cell of Delhi Police, where two persons were arrested and mobile phones and computers of over 50 people were seized without ensuring the integrity of their data—a basic… pic.twitter.com/Q60m29xBBZ

Police say the arrests and raids are part of an anti-terrorism investigation into whether the news outlet had received funds from China.
