Delhi Police arrest editor of NewsClick; seize phones, laptops of journos

Police in New Delhi, India have arrested the editor of a news website and its human resources chief after raiding the homes of journalists working for the site and seizing their laptops and cellphones.
NewsClick has been critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Hindu nationalist-led government.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said that the state government has decided to provide 100 per cent renewable-based electricity supply to all sectors by 2050. Sawant said this while speaking after inaugurating a two-day workshop on Sustainable Energy and Environmental solution, here.

At least five persons were killed and two more missing in different rain-related incidents as an incessant downpour pounded Mumbai and most parts of Maharashtra for the third consecutive day on Thursday. In a blow to narcotic smuggling networks, Punjab Police have busted an inter-state drug cartel and seized 17.960 kg heroin with an arrest of three smugglers who were transporting it via Srinagar to Amritsar, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Thursday.
In a major catch in the terrorist-gangster-smuggler nexus, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday said that they have arrested Vikramjeet Singh alias Vikram Brar, a key aide of notorious jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, immediately after his deportation from the UAE to India.
