Dalit family fined Rs 60k after boy touches Hindu god's idol

Kolar (Karnataka), Sep 20 (IANS) A Dalit family in Karnataka's Koppal district has been fined Rs 60,000 after its boy entered the temple and touched Hindu god's idol.
According to local sources, the Dalit boy had touched the idol ready to be taken out for the procession at the Hullerahalli village in Malur taluk.
Local residents said that a temple was constructed and the villagers decided to celebrate it.
During the celebrations three days ago, Chetan touched the idol and attempted to carry it on his head.
At this point, the villagers shooed him away and imposed Rs 60,000 fine on his family.
The village leaders have asked the parents of Dalit boy Ramesh and Shobha not to enter village until they pay the fine amount.
Miscreants are also making threatening calls to the boy's mother.
The Dalit family is yet to file a complaint in this regard.
Acting swiftly on the complaint of the principal, the security was stepped up at the school by deploying commandos and sniffer dogs. During the probe, the police found it an act of mischief by three students of the school.
The DGP said the arrested persons include the prime perpetrator of planting an improvised explosive device (IED) at Shahabad in Haryana recently, who has been identified as Nachhatar Singh, alias Moti, a resident of Tarn Taran.
A bench comprising justices Hemant Gupta and Sudhanshu Dhulia told advocate Nizam Pasha, representing a petitioner, that the comparison with Sikhs may not be proper and the 5 Ks of Sikh have been held to be mandatory.

The official said in the first operation they found that the drugs were being supplied inside Delhi through a courier service. The police said that this information was developed and an MBA student was apprehended from Wazirabad. He told the police that a BBA pass student supplied him the drugs and he was also caught.
